Hong Kong, 12 December 2016 (Monday) – The remarkable results of the Danang 2016 Asian Beach Games medal-winning squad of Hong Kong (the Delegation) was celebrated at a Welcome Home Reception, followed by a Christmas Garden Party today at the Indian Recreation Club.

Under the leadership of Mr. Timothy FOK, GBS, JP, President of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (the Federation) and Mr. PUI Kwan Kay, SBS, Chef de Mission of the Delegation, a 129-strong delegation including 81 athletes and 48 officials represented Hong Kong in the Games. The Delegation has returned home creditably with a total of 8 medals including 4 silver and 4 bronze in 4 sports namely Beach Rowing, Beach Shuttlecock, Beach Woodball and Muay. Hong Kong finally ranked 28th in the overall medal tally.

Mr. FOK and Mr. TONG Wai Lun, BBS, JP, Deputy Chef de Mission of the Delegation presented souvenirs to all attending Delegation members in the occasion as a recognition of their efforts and determination. The event was successfully concluded in a joyful Christmas atmosphere.

The Federation is honour to have Mr. Raymond FAN, JP, Deputy Director of Leisure & Cultural Services (Leisure Services), Leisure and Cultural Services Department to present the HKSAR Flag to Mr. Timothy T.T. FOK, GBS, JP, President of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), Mr. Ronnie M. C. WONG, JP, Hon. Secretary General of the SF&OC and Mr. PUI Kwan Kay, SBS, Chef de Mission of Hong Kong, China Delegation to the Danang 2016 ABG.  The Ceremony remarked the blessing and support from all guests and the Hong Kong people to the Delegation.

This is the fifth time for Hong Kong participating in the ABG since its inaugural edition in Bali 2008.  A total of 129 delegation including 81 athletes will represent Hong Kong to compete in 9 sports events of Beach Water Polo, Marathon Swimming, Beach Athletics, Beach Handball, Beach Rowing, Beach Shuttlecock, Beach Volleyball, Beach Woodball and
Muay.

The 5th ABG will be hosted in Danang, a major port city of Vietnam from 24 September to 3 October 2016.  To support our Delegation, the Federation has launched a mobile App namely “SFOC” for both Andriod and iOS version, which is now available for free download.  In addition, a dedicated Hong Kong, China Delegation to Danang 2016 ABG web page has been developed for sharing the Games’ information to the public.
